2018 Juried Student Exhibition

Guidelines, Rules and Entry Form

Exhibition Dates: April 9 – 25, 2018

Location: Rainbow Gallery, 1540 Levante Avenue, 2nd Floor, Coral Gables, FL 33146

Entries due: Monday, March 19, 2018 – 9:00am to 5:00pm @ Rainbow Gallery

Eligibility: Any undergraduate or graduate student who has taken an ART course since May 2017.

Entries: Only three entries per student, not limited to one category. Each entry must have a label securely attached to it, and the entry form must be completely filled out. You must print legibly. We must have an insurance value even if the work is not for sale. Please submit a fair market insurance value at the time of entering your works. Our Preparator will be present to check in the works.

Entry Rules and Guidelines:

All work must be the original artwork of the student artist.

Sales will be encouraged with 40% of the sale benefitting the department.

Works on paper, photos, and canvases do not have to be framed at time of submission.

All works must be finished and dry. (No wet paint, wet glue or unstable media.)

Nails, screws, staples, etc. should not protrude from any surface.

Wet paintings will not be accepted. 

The Rainbow Gallery is not responsible for adjustments to poorly framed or prepared art.  

Any fragile or complicated pieces will be the artist’s responsibility to install and transport.

The use of organic materials that might deteriorate during the exhibi­tion needs to be approved in advance of entering the work.

No hazardous or flammable materials allowed.

*By enter­ing works in this exhibition, you are agreeing to these guidelines. The department also reserves the right to reproduce your entry in the exhibition catalog, website, or in other publicity materials.

 

**Please photograph your work prior to submission; we may request a high-res image for promotional purposes.

 

Important Dates:

Monday, March 19: works need to be delivered to the Rainbow Gallery for jurying between 9am to 4pm. Sculptural artwork that are difficult to transport may be juried over at 1535 Levante: for these please turn in your paperwork at the Rainbow gallery during these same hours with instructions as to where your piece can be viewed. The piece must be clearly labeled for easy identification during jurying.

Tuesday, March 20: Jurying at the Rainbow gallery, no eligible students may be present.

Wednesday, March 21: Jury notifications will be emailed; all rejected works must be picked up by 4pm.

Wednesday, April 4: Accepted artwork drop off – 9:00am to 3:00pm, Rainbow Gallery

Friday, April 13: Opening Reception (Rainbow Gallery from 4pm to 7pm. This event will be catered.)

Thursday, April 26: Artwork Pick up from 9:00am to 1:00pm. Works must be collected that Friday, no exceptions.
